Ghana failed to make it into 2018 world cup Russia. The news came with no surprise, the 7 time African champions EGYPT reserved a spot in Russia. Ghana is always a place with no lack of football wonder kids. Likes of Micheal Essien, Andre Ayew, Abedi pele contributed a lot to the Ghana national team. The great talents from Ghana are playing in many countries across the globe. And in this article it is the story about a versatile striker Emmanuel Aidoo who plays for Kerala premier league side Quartz FC, Calicut.
Emmanuel, who is from Takoradi - western Ghana has moved to kerala since the beginning of 2018. Towards the conclusion of KPL, SouthSoccers media team had an interview with the person himself. Below is the glimpse from the interview.
Interviewer: - Mr. Emmanuel. Namaskaaram (Greeted in Malayalam - holding the palms upright in front)
Aidoo:- (with a short smile, tried to imitate Interviewer)
Interviewer: - It’s been 5 months you are here in India. What do you think about Indian Football?
Aidoo:- Firstly, Indian football is very attractive. That is the reason why so many foreign players are coming to play here. And the fans are very passionate and supportive, that gives us more energy to play. And I think India has the best league in Asia
Interviewer: - Before you came to India, how was your stint in Ghana?
Aidoo:- I started playing for U17 at western united, during my time we promoted to second division. Winning many trophies with the team.
Then I moved to another club called Westlanders who plays in second division, again I won several cups there. And then I moved to Orlando FC. The best team I played so far in Ghana is Soccer stars.
Interviewer: - I can understand, you had a good career in Ghana. And how did you come to India? Any scouting program?
Aidoo:- When I was playing for Soccer stars my manager called me and asked to sign for Quartz fc for 1 season contract. Not just for KPL but also for division league, which we play.
Interviewer:- Did you hear about Kerala blasters?
Aidoo :- Ofcourse I heard a lot about it and I wish to play for the team very soon.
Interviewer:- Courage Pekuson, Kerala Blaster’s Midfielder, he was an important player for KBFC last season. He is from Ghana. Do you know him or ever played along or against him? What do you think about hi,
Aidoo:- Yes, I know him, I know he is from Ghana. But I never met him before. I hope one day I will meet him and all the great players.
Also he is a great player, with great technique and speed.
Interviewer:- Let me ask about Kerala. What do you think about our state?
Aidoo:- Very beautiful place, good feeling, nice food and nice people. I like Poratta and beef fry a lot. And the weather is cooler than Ghana.
Interviewer:- Do you want me to add something apart from this?
Aidoo:- Yes, Kerala people are very very good. They always show us love, passion. I feel like home. Thank you Kerala.
