The legendary PK Banerjee was awarded the AIFC Hall of Fame award


The legendary PK Banerjee was awarded the AIFC (Association of Indian Football Coaches) Hall of Fame award.  He wasn't able to attend the AIFC Annual Awards because of health problems. The AIFC Director Mr. Sanjoy sen handed over the trophy from his private residence. Banerjee played in 84 internationals in his 13 years of representing India. This included three Asian Games (Tokyo, Jakarta and Bangkok). He was also part of the Indian team which finished fourth (the country's best result) in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and had captained the national team at the 1960 Rome Olympics.A Padma Shri awardee in 1990. He was one of the first recipients of Arjuna Award, when the awards were instituted in 1961, PK Banerjee was associated as coach of the national team from 1970 to 1986.
